My Birthday!

Thank you to my sweet, amazing husband for taking me on a getaway, in spite of the blizzard, (Seriously, we got about 5 inches of snow in two hours.) and to Grandma and Grandpa Feist for watching our little guy. We had a very fun weekend!

First, dinner at the Cheesecake Factory on the 16th Street Mall. One of the servers built a snowman outside the window to entertain some kiddos in the restaurant. I thought it was pretty funny.

Our digs at Hotel Monaco, in the middle of Downtown Denver.

Nora, this place totally reminded me of you -- so many amazing colors and textures.

Hunny and me.

Our view the next day, after most of the snow had melted.

One last shot in the lobby before heading home.

"Dead" Eggs

Post-Easter, we decided to spend an evening dying eggs together. The next morning, Cam said, "Mommy, I need to see the dead eggs in the refrigerator." Okay, YOU try explaining to a two-year-old the difference between "The eggs are dyed" and "The eggs are died." Ah, the little nuances of the English language, as discovered through the eyes of a toddler. He's so fun!

So ... I asked my boys to pose for a picture, and this is what I got.

Of course, I had to get in on some of the fun, too.

I love moments like this with my family. These are the memories I'll treasure for a lifetime. It sounds cheesy, but it's true.

Emergency Vehicles "Petting Zoo"

Imagine a parking lot full of emergency vehicles on which the little ones can crawl around to their utter delight. This is the stuff little boys' dreams are made of.

Cam was kind of disappointed at first that there were no police cars or fire engines, but seemed okay with the 2 Hummers and mobile command station (big police truck) nonetheless. He was fine with the free coloring books, stickers, and police badge too.

"Driving" the big truck.

The view from the cab. From this angle, the name of the event, "Emergency Vehicles Petting ZOO," all of a sudden made sense. Keep in mind the insides of the vehicles were all packed with small children as well.

He's just too cute for words.

"Who, me?"

Inside the khaki Hummer.

"Anyone in there?" I always seem to get pics of the back of these two.

Chillin' in the back of the Hummer.

Cam and his best buddy, Jackson. Silly boys. Love the faces.

Classic Cam and Jackson.

Driving these vehicles was very serious stuff.

In the black Hummer, with Krysteen, the princess birthday girl, in the background. We headed to her birthday party after this.

Hanging out in the back. Someone's kiddo was sitting in the driver's seat of this one pushing buttons and released the emergency break. (Oops!) It happened again 5 minutes later and rolled onto the Army guy's foot (Double oops!), but I decided it wasn't very nice to take a picture. Thankfully, the Army guy refrained from profanity and fixed the problem by shoving something under the front tire after that. Second time's the charm, I guess. Poor guy, injured by a toddler... "Be all that you can be," dude.

So, we're touring this packed mobile command station, and what is my little man interested in? Changing the time on their clock. (I'm sure they were so grateful.) We have one like that at home and it is nearly impossible to re-set after he's been playing with it.

I love my boy.

Some of the other mommies -- Katie, with Camden, and Alicia, trying to talk Nater into coming out (see his little head peeking out of the window?). They are both cutie preggers. :)

Nicole holding Henry and leading the 2 musketeers after a second (or third?) tour of the mobile command station.

Easter FHE & Cam's First Egg Hunt

Camden LOVED his first Easter Egg Hunt. We decided to save it for Monday night and use it as an activity with our Family Home Evening lesson.

And he's off!

I get such a kick out of this next succession of photos. Watch his facial expressions. Classic Camden. He is such a happy little fellow - my little sunshine.

Look Mommy, I got them all! (It's hard to tell in most of the pictures, but his crocs are on the wrong feet ... because he insisted on putting them on himself, of course.)

Yep! He found the full dozen all by himself.

Counting out the loot. A few weeks ago, he started counting to 12 by himself, which worked well for this exercise. He's such a smart kiddo.

Carrying the stash back to the house.

Opening the eggs. Whew! That's hard work. No candy inside these eggs (Am I such a mean Mommy?), just puzzle pieces.

Concentrating hard on the task at hand.

The finished puzzle, around which we had our FHE lesson on the Resurrection. For the past few nights, he's been bringing me his New Testament reader and requesting "the tomb story again." :)

The disastrous white cupcakes with white frosting -- half-baked and uneaten by the boy (who refused to touch his dinner). I decided to have one, but it gave me an enormous headache. After frosting half of them, I thought, "Oh, forget it!" At least we got to talk about the symbolism of the white and the purity of the Lamb. Oh, well ... Here's to keeping tradition for tradition's sake!

Yes, I cut it!

I recently cut fourteen inches of hair off to donate to Locks of Love, and in the mean time, I'm having a blast with my fun short hair. Some of you who have known me for a long time know that this is not necessarily a new look for me, but it has been a while!

Before

Before

After - lovin' the natural curl!

After - Camden came with me to the salon, and when I stood up from the chair he said, "Ohhh, Mommy, your hair looks sooo pretty." To which my stylist replied, "Welp, he's a keeper!" He kept telling me in the car all the way home, "You're so pretty, Mommy." I adore that kid.

Easter with the Feist Family

It's been a rough year for the Feist family. Around this time last year, Trent still had three living grandparents, and now he only has one remaining. (As far as other extended family, I've lost count of the funerals.) In any case, we decided a small, intimate gathering was appropriate this Easter, and though we missed the hustle and bustle of the big family gathering, it worked out better this way, especially for our little Great-Grandma. With Trev out of town (booo!), it ended up being just the six of us.

Great-Grandma Tronette and Camden were having so much fun playing together. Ricki said she hasn't heard her mom laugh like that in years.

Grandma and the Boo.

Bristle blocks are the coolest!

I always crack up when he does this. And he thinks he's pretty funny, too.

Grandpa, in the kitchen - as usual!

Awww... Aren't we cute?
