“You go on. You set one foot in front of the other, and if a thin voice cries out, somewhere behind you, you pretend not to hear, and keep going.” ― Geraldine Brooks, "March"

New Blog
Time for a fresh new space! I will not be posting on this blog any longer. Feel free to follow the boys and me at http://melodyandcompany.blogspot.com/.
Riding for the Troops
My parents are bikers! Believe it! They're nuts. Here are some choice shots from their weekend getaway to D.C. on Memorial Day weekend for the "Rolling Thunder" national motorcycle rally. There were an estimated 900,000 participants this year.
Mom on the Vulcan, Dad's 23rd (?) bike, I think.
Mom may or may not have gotten this shot while STANDING UP on the back of the bike during their ride in the parade. Ohhhhh, Mom!!!

Playing in the Fort
Remember when the Mountainview Resort was under construction in March? Well, now the weather is perfect, and the boys love playing out there. We even got some furniture and accessories to encourage them to drift that way on sunny afternoons. Here are some classic shots of "Captain Point Sword" and "Little Wing" out in the "Super State" (headquarters for the superheroes) OR "Captain Spy" and "Junior Captain Spy" in the spy hideout. Depends on the day. They crack me up. The pictures of the kitchen in the middle of the lawn are from when we sprayed it all off at the beginning of the season. They just couldn't wait to try it all out.
Love my boy-boys.

Camden's Art Show
Redeemer Episcopal Day School (R.E.D.S.) is where Cam attends preschool 4 mornings a week.

Holy craziness, Batman!

If he looks less-than-ecstatic in the pictures, that's because he was. When we got in the truck afterward, he said (in his classic Camden manner), "That wasn't what I expected. Was that what you expected?" Apparently he thought that "art show" meant he would get to stand onstage in the spotlight and explain each individual piece of his art to the crowd. What a ham! He cracks me up. We had to explain that "even grown-up professional artists" have art shows in this manner -- where people walk around and look at their artwork, mingle, eat hors d'oeuvres ... okay maybe without crazy toddlers running around and parents chasing after them warning them not to rip things off the walls! *sigh*

Freddie the Frog
We had a visitor from Camden's preschool class this past weekend, Freddie the Frog. He even brought his bag along, complete with his coat, blanket, jammies, and a house gift (chocolates! smart frog!). We wrote entries in his journal each night and took pictures of all our adventures so that Camden could share with the class this week. We'll miss you, Freddie! Thanks for hanging out with us!
