“You go on. You set one foot in front of the other, and if a thin voice cries out, somewhere behind you, you pretend not to hear, and keep going.” ― Geraldine Brooks, "March"

Family Party for Liam
Here's the second half of Liam's one-year-old celebration/shindig at Granmy and Poppa's, complete with the official cake made by Mommy with love.

What's that you say? You want me to keep a crown on a my head? Don't make me laugh!

Mommy is somewhere in the background putting the last few finishing touches on the cake. Here's proof. ;)

TADA!

Please note the cute mini-cake lily pads for which to share with the rest of the fam. :)

Maybe I'm a mean momma, but this one just makes me burst out laughing.
Is Blueman Group looking for an apprentice? Because I know a cute possibility.
At the end of the day: Funfetti cake? Not a huge hit. Real buttercream frosting made from scratch? Yep, a huge hit. In fact, he ate most of it. (What can I say? He's his mom's kid. I've always preferred the frosting too, ever since I was a little girl. End piece, please?) And then the little dude positively vibrated for about 24 hours. No joke.
He opened presents the next day, Sunday. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa, Mima, and Daddy for mailing the awesome clothes, toys, and books! He loves them all!
Happy Birthday, Froggy Baby. We love you so much.

Liam is ONE!
Happy Birthday to the cutest 1-year-old on the planet! Much to Granmy & Poppa's delight we ended up celebrating in Virginia. (Out of 4 grandchildren, it is the first birthday party they have been able to attend.) We celebrated day-of with some cupcakes and saved the big stuff for the weekend when more extended family could attend so ... stay tuned, more pics to come.

Kind of a pitiful attempt, but oh well. The best is yet to come on Saturday, people!

I had to do some coaxing.

After a while he was okay with it!

Happy Birthday, Kitten!
Did you know that Kitten Canyon shares a birthday with my little sister??? (Kitten Canyon is a small snow leopard that Santa stuffed in Camden's stocking this year and that now goes e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e with him.) Well, it's true. Camden informed me of this the day before and told me that we needed to have a party for him, so that's what we did.
Kitten requested rainbow sherbet in place of a cupcake. Camden helped blow out the candle. Such a nice boy.

Good Morning, Christmas!
It was fun having Christmas on a Sunday this year! Busy day!
First, church.
I liked going to church on Christmas morning! I think it's something we really miss out on in the LDS culture. We even managed to get a half-decent family Christmas shot in the lobby afterward, which, obviously, if taken on Christmas morning, didn't make it into any Christmas cards -- which I was too lazy to send this year anyway. (Please see my previous post on Christmas chaos.) Sorry, y'all! You know I love you anyway! ;)
Then home for our own little Christmas morning. It was Liam's very first Christmas, and I really treasured it.

Then off to the Ed & Ricki's for Christmas dinner and gifts -- pics in a separate post below. So fun! ... and yummy! :P
Also of note this Christmas season ...
Liam had his first encounter with the Santa, and wasn't phased a bit. I was the photographer for the ward party Santa. Wouldn't you know that the one pic I didn't shoot, the curtain was open behind us! And Cam is sporting leftovers from a bloody nose. *sigh* That is what Photo Shop is for, right? Except in the past month and a half, I still haven't found the time to fix it. So here it is, in all its un-touched-up glory. My boys are pretty cute, eh? Liam's pose makes me giggle.
We weren't able to make it to the extended Feist Family Christmas Eve hurrah this year, but Aunt Joan brought us her delectable made-from-scratch Christmas cookie platter anyway, on the 23rd. Bless her! I decided to be a "fun mom" and let everyone eat Christmas cookies for breakfast (except Liam, who had Cheerios and just a little piece of cookie) ... which turned out to be a really dumb idea. We all got really sick. Ah, well... The cookies were super yummy anyway. And the platter lasted for many weeks afterward.
Camden: "Mommy, I need five cookies because I'm five!" This is just a sampling from the many amazing varieties on hand.
Liam: So cute and happy. Just like usual.
Merry Christmas to all!
Love,
The Feists
